The Vegan Kind - August Box

My recent tranistion from vegetarian to vegan has been made a lot easier with this amazing subscription box from The Vegan Kind. I've spoken about making the jump in previous posts and to be honest it isn't as hard as I was first expecting. Yes there are a lot of products out there with the sneaky powdered milk & eggs in the ingrediants but once you get used to checking the back of the packets you'll be fine.

At the moment I've been eating a lot more fruit and vegetables. In smoothies, roasted veg, in wraps, pitta breads, curries.. the choices are endless. I've been getting lost down the YouTube rabbit hole again, my favourites being the "what I eat in a day" videos, I've become obsessed with them for some reason!  (That's what my Saturday  night consisted off this weekend - I'm 30 in 2 months I am allowed to be boring 😁)

I came across this subsription box whilst snooping on Twitter. There is a choice of either the Lifestyle box (£13.15) which has around 7/8 foodie products or the Beauty box (£18.15 inc delivery) which is a selction of skincare and beauty products.

My first box being the August box and I was not disappointed. Here's what was inside:

Sweet Freedom Choc Pot (£3.85)
I LOVE this chocolate spread. I picked it up from Tesco not so long ago and have already hit the bottom of the pot so this was perfect timing!

Almighty Foods Strawberry Blonde Raw Chocolate (£2.89)
Firstly, the packaging is super cute. This bar is made from cacao, cashews & tigernut sprinkled with strawberry dust. I think this is one of my favourite vegan chocolate bars I have tried so far - deeeelicious!

Emily Crisps Cruchy Sweet Potato, Beetroot and Carrot (£1.50)
I have actually tried these before with a meal deal from Boots. Sadly, I find them a little bland for my taste. I usually love vegetable crisps but these not so much. (I do love the packaging though).

Native Unearthed Activated Charcoal Deodorant Balm (£3.99)
This was one of the items that I was most excited to try. I've been thinking of popping in to Holland and Barrett to pick up a natural deodrant so I was very pleased to see this in the box. I  have used it a couple of times, I love the scent - it is clean but not overpowering. It is made from activated charcoal, coconut oil, shea butter & lavender oil. Although the pot is small you only need a pea size amount and it's perfect to pop in your bag!

Candy Kittens Sweet Peach Pop Bag (£1.00)
OK THIS IS MY FAVOURITE OF THE BUNCH. Why has it taken me so long to try these sweets? I have tried a few vegan sweets which are usually too .. squishy, but these are so good! I need moooore! Candy Kittens are also working towards making their whole range Vegan friendly so that's very cool.

PHD Superfood Mango and Banana Protein Smoothie (£2.49)
This on the go protein drink is perfect for popping in your gym bag for an after workout boost. I usually make my own mango and banana smoothies every morning but this is great if you don't have time. The smoothie itself is very thick, the flavours were quite strong not really what I was expecting but OK as a one off now and again.

and lastly..
We are Tea Super Berry Infusion Tea Whole-leaf
I'm a huge fan of fruity teas/green tea etc - this blend contains red berries, hibiscus, rosehip, apple pieces and orange peel - super refreshing!

Overall I am very pleased with my first box - it's a great way to try new things that you wouldn't usually find when doing your weekly shop and gives you a chance to try things that maybe you wouldn't usually pick yourself.

Here's a little peak at Septembers box..
