The Three Golden Cups Campsite - Wales

On Friday afternoon me, Josh and our friends all squeezed in to the green beetle and went on a tiny road trip to Ogmore for our friends birthday. Ogmore is only 20 minutes from my house but it is still nice to get away and do something different. We had come across The Three Golden Cups campsite online and loved the look of the tipis that you could hire for the weekend.

The campsite itself is very spacious, there were a number of tents and campervans parked up. There are toilet and shower facilities available, firepits, logs, every thing you need for a camping weekend. Our tipi could comfortably fit around 8 people, it kept us warm and dry throughout the night so no complaints at all! Although it is more expensive than simply hiring a pitch and bringing your own tent it was very nice not to have the stress of putting a tent up and taking it down at the end of the weekend.

The campsite is located just behind The Three Golden Cups pub which is great as they sell food throughout the day, you can takeaway or eat in the restaurant. There is also an Italian restaurant just across the road but unfortunately they were fully booked for the whole weekend!

Porthcawl is only a 15 minute car ride from Ogmore so Saturday morning we headed down there looking for breakfast. We came across a little cafe The Broomwagon Cafe, I had the vegi breakfast which was really, really good and the most amazing caramel latte I have ever had -  It was so good we went back again the next morning! Looking at their facebook page now, I think I need to make another visit just to try the afternoon tea!

On Sunday we visited Ogmore beach which is stunning as you can see from the photos above. It's a really nice walk through the Dunraven Gardens, only ten minutes from the campsite.

Overall it was a really good weekend, I would highly recommend the location & tipis for a short getaway from every day life! Although I did really miss my cat, dogs are allowed on the campsite.. I  should check next time if cats are welcome! :-p
