The 'No (Sham)Poo Method'

Favourite Fragrances / Wish List

With Auntumn/Winter fast approaching I thought I'd share my favourite fragrances and those that I would like to try. I love this time of year, I get to switch to my favorite 'darker' scents, reminding me of the best times of the year - Halloween, Bonfire Night, Christmas. Cold, dark evenings - your favourite winter coat, fireworks, spooky walks, halloween parties - my birthday! I love how different smells can transport us to certain times or events, like little memories in a bottle.

Clive Christian
I just recently stumbled upon this brand - the first thing that draws you in is the packaging. The bottles themselves are beautiful and would add a touch of luxury to any dressing table! After sampling two scents 'Green Floral' and 'Woody Leather' it was clear that these are very unique, like nothing I have used before. This brand is described as transforming the expected in to the extraordinary which is clear when sampling these scents. I am in love with the bottles of these fruity perfumes. Floral blends with cocoa and fruity plum sound like the perfect transition from Summer to Autumn.

Marc Jacobs Decadence / Decadence Eau So Decadent
This has to be my all time favourite perfume. My mother bought it for me last Christmas after I raved about a free sample I'd received. With plum, rose and amber this scent is a lovely, dark sort of witchy smell - I really hope people understand what I mean when I say that! It's the best way to describe it for me especially with the dark green packaging it's the first thing that comes to mind - perfect for a night out. They have recently released a new addition to the Decadence range, Decadence Eau So Decadent which is a more fruity/floral scent, I can't wait to try it!

 Kat Von D - Sinner
Sinner is described as a dark, sultry, empowering scent with jasmine, orange blossom and hints of vanilla this scent sounds perfect for this time of the year. Again, the packaging is very pretty - I love the black, engraved bottle. 'Saint' which can be found in a white version is the softer, dreamier sister of 'Sinner'.

Ghost - Deep Night
Deep Night firstly has the most perfect bottle for this time of year, a lovely dark purple crescent moon. It is described as a fresh scent with a spicy and woody composition - inspired by the wildnerness - defintely on my list of scents to try when I next pop in to Boots.

Lush - Karma
Karma is another one of my favourite scents, one spray and it lasts for hours. I remember my friend getting in to my car wearing Karma and it hit you straight away - I love it. Whenever I wear this fragrance I always get compliments - with sweet orange oil, patchouli, lemon grass & pine oil it creates a beautiful earthy, deep scent. I have also tried the karma bubble bar which is lovely, creating dark purple bubbles with the same beautiful karma fragrance.

Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix

Let's stop talking about food and talk a little about skincare. Recently my skin has been SO bad, I never used to get bad skin but now I'm almost 30 I guess it's my time. I researched a little online and had a snoop at the Boots website. I had read a lot of good reviews on the Nip + Fab products so decided it was time to spend a little more than I usually would on something that would hopefully help me achieve the results I have been looking for.

I picked the Glycolic Fix range as this seemed to be more targeted to what I was looking for. It helps exfoliate, boost skin radiance and helps refine the skins texture, deeply cleanses pores & helps keep blemishes at bay - perfect!

The items I chose were:

Glycolic Scrub Fix - £9.95

This 3-in-1 exfoliant is packed with 3% glycolic acid and salicylic acids to refine, brighten + renew. Glycolic Fix Facial scrub works deep into pores to cleanse, polish + reduce blemishes.

Glycolic Cleansing Fix  - £7.95 (A Kylie Jenner favourite - apparently!)

Glycolic Acid works to retexture the skin to hide the appearance of unwanted lines and wrinkles, whilst Olive Oil deeply hydrates and smoothes the skin.

Glycolic Fix Serum - £14.95

Designed with pore refining ingredient PoreAway, the size of pores are visibly reduced for a more refined, even looking complexion.

Once a day I have been exfoliating with the scrub. The product itself is like fine sand, I can't quite explain but it really does feel like you are scrubbing away the dead skin - it's not painful but you can definiately feel it. Next, I take the cleanser - I wet my face and take a 10p size blob and use my fingers to work it around my face creating a foam. I then wash and dry as normal and apply the serum. This feels quite tacky and if like me you have spots it can sting for a couple of seconds - nothing too bad.

Hair Treatment - Olaplex

Hey look! It's another hair care post ☺Just a short one today to share my experience with Olaplex and to pretty much tell you all to try it asap.

A few weeks a go I finally took the plunge and booked myself in the hairdressers. Now, I have the hairdresser fear big time - my last visit wasn't the most pleasant. The lady made it clear to me that my hair was in bad condition (thanks for the confidence boost love!) but since my roots had been growing in and my ends looked a little dead I thought it was time to book myself in. After snooping online I found a hairdresser that also did the Olaplex hair treatmet that I had heard lots about, the before & after photos drew me in and there were hundreds of great reviews.

The treatment itself is a 3 step process. Firstly, number 1 works deep in to the hair begining the process of repairing and preventing damage. Number 2 helps to build and repair broken bonds, leaving the hair super soft and healthy. Number 3 is a at home treatment which you can use to prevent ongoing damage. I am sure there is lots of beautiful sciency stuff to it but this is the simple version!

I chose to have my roots darkened with lots of highlights through the lengths. The dying process & olaplex treatment took around 3 hours all together which isn't unsual as my hair is super thick. The treatment is so simple, it goes on to the hair with the dye/toner (I believe) for around 10 - 15mins, then after that is all rinsed off Number 2 goes on to the hair for the same amount of time. I have not used the Number 3 treatment so sadly can't comment on that, but it's definately something I'll considering purchasing in the future.

After having a much needed trim and a blow dry my hair I felt like a different person - Here are the before and after which are kinda strange as my hair looks longer in the after photo!

I could not believe the difference in my hair, it was so soft and shiny. I have never seen it look so healthy! I was so happy that I decided to have a trim too, sometimes it's needed to get rid of those horrible spilt ends. It gave me a much needed confidence boost, at only £20 it is seriously worth it. I no doubt will be asking for this treatment every time I go to the hairdressers.

I have just re-ordered my usual biotin so let the hair growing journey commence!
